FAQs
Where are you based?
We've been based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire since we started the company. Starting from our home offices, we've expanded through five different offices to our current location at 3 Manor Park Business Centre in the Kingsditch/Swindon Village area of Cheltenham.
What technologies do you use?
We develop custom websites and online software with the open source PHP programming language alongside MySQL databases. We also use additional technologies like JavaScript, CSS and API for styling and functionality.
How many clients have you helped?
We estimate we've worked with over 400 different companies over the years to help improve their web marketing or run their business processes better.
How long has Bluelinemedia been around?
We were founded in 2001 by three school friends from Marling School, the owners Ben, Simon and James still work full-time in the business alongside our newer developers.
What makes your team different from other agencies?
Our team is incredibly stable; as of 2026, our average staff tenure is 19 years! This means when you call us, you're speaking to someone who likely knows your project inside and out, rather than a rotating cast of account managers.
Do you outsource your coding?
No. All our PHP-based development is done 100% in-house by our team in Cheltenham. This gives us total control over the quality and security of the code.
I'm not a 'tech person' - will I understand the process?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on plain English, and understanding your problems, objectives and concerns. We avoid technical jargon and focus on how the software will help your business, not the complex code behind it.
Will I be able to see the progress of my project?
Yes. We provide a working web address (a 'development URL') so you can review the live progress of your site, test features, and provide feedback in real-time before we launch.
What happens if I need help after the website is live?
We offer free lifetime support for as long as you use our content management system. Since we're a local team of six, there is always someone available to investigate issues or answer a quick question.
Who will be my main point of contact?
You'll have a dedicated account manager as your single point of contact, supported by a project manager and at least two in-house developers.
Do I own the code once the project is finished?
Yes. Our terms provide an irrevocable, perpetual licence, giving you complete freedom to make changes or use suppliers. We even include 'commenting' in our code so any developer can understand it in the future, though we hope our 19-year average staff retention means you'll stick with us!
